Vermont Women In High Tech – May 3rd – 2012

POSTED on April 20, 2012

Where: Main Street Landing in Burlington
When: Thursday, May 3, 2012, 5.30pm–7.30pm

Krista Conley of Vtrim and Bill Church of Green Mountain Antibodies are hosting the first networking event held by a new initiative supporting women in Vermont’s high technology sector. Sponsored jointly by the Vermont Biosciences and Vermont Software Developers Alliances as well as the Vermont Technology Council, the group is currently called Vermont Women in Science, Technology, Business & Finance. Our vision is to bring Vermont’s women together to forge relationships that will benefit their professional lives, advance their economic opportunities, and make Vermont a model environment for female professionals. The state of Vermont is currently ranked 45th in the number of women-owned businesses—we believe this number must change. The time is now for our female entrepreneurs, scientists, business leaders, and financial managers to innovate, stimulate and engage in creating jobs and enhancing economic development in Vermont.

We’re honored to welcome former Vermont Governor Madeleine Kunin as a speaker for this event. Governor Kunin, who recently wrote The New Feminist Agenda, will share insights gleaned from her professional journey and her vision for the future role of women in Vermont’s high tech economy.

This free event is open to women in Vermont’s technology sector who would like to share their knowledge, benefit from the experience of other women in high technology, and help all Vermont women continue to overcome gender barriers and capitalize on opportunities that exist in Vermont business. By creating and building a network of support and mentorship, this women’s collaborative will have a positive impact on business growth in Vermont and will serve to strengthen Vermont’s science and technology infrastructure.
